SINGER/SONGWRITER PATTY CABRERA TO SING "AMERICA" AT TOP
COPS AWARDS IN NEW YORK CITY ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2002
NASHVILLE, Tenn. Singer/songwriter Patty Cabrera will perform
"America," her encouraging song of remembrance and gratitude, at NAPO's
Ninth Annual TOP COPS Awards in New York City on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 at
the City Center Theater. The ceremony will pay special trib ute to the NYPD, the
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, and several
Washington D.C. area law enforcement agencies on the one-year anniversary of the
September 11th attacks.
"America," a stellar single featured on Cabrera's latest
album, Lov e Someone Like Me, is garnering national and international attention
including personal recognition from President George W. Bush.
Cabrera wrote and recorded "America" days after the
terrorist attacks of Sept.11, 2001. The song is a tribute to those who died and
to those who have responded to America's loss with courage and compassion.
The event will be hosted by John Walsh of America's Most
Wanted, who will be joined by U.S. Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles
Schumer and Undersecretary for Enforcement Jimmy Gurule in honoring the TOP COPSŪ
and September 11th responders. Celebrity presenters include James Earl
Jones, Alec Baldwin, Ellen Burstyn, Alan King, Joe Piscopo, Frances Sternhagen,
Skipp Sudduth, Jason Wiles, Molly
Price, Chris Noth, Ed Marinaro, Jesse Martin, Tony Lo Bianco, and Barbara Feldon.
The ceremony will also feature the musical talents of Cabrera, along with Phoebe
Snow and Ben Vereen.
The ceremony will begin with a bagpipe processional to the
theater stage, where the flag salvaged from the World Trade Center will be on
display for the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The National Association of Police Organizations is a national
