The men of NBC's "Third Watch," the rescue series shot in and
around New York City, will collaborate on an Off-Broadway play this summer, when
Anthony Ruivivar and Tony Glazer's Safe plays the Jose Quintero Theatre
starting June 12.
The world premiere opens June 14 and features "Third Watch" actors
Jason Wiles (who plays Maurice "Bosco" Boscarelli on the series) and
Coby Bell (who plays Ty Davis, Jr. on the show). Their TV castmate is Ruivivar,
who penned the suspenseful new play with Glazer.
The respected, Tony Award-winning actress Carlin Glynn (The Best Little
Whorehouse in Texas), Yvonne Jung and Henry Afro-Bradley complete the cast.
Ruivivar (known as Carlos Nieto on "Third Watch") directs his play,
billed this way: "Set in a bank safe after a botched robbery, Safe
revolves around the forced camaraderie and conflicts which develop between give
complete strangers with nothing in common but their survival instinct. Paranoia
fear and guilt begin to set in and uncover the core of each of these characters'
true selves, leading to some startling discoveries. The unlikely group traverses
a myriad of dilemmas in their quest to escape - forever changing their
lives."
Co-writer Glazer is the co-founder, director and lead writer of the sketch
comedy groups Tune In and Stoma.
Safe is presented by Imua! Theatre Company in association with
Broadsword Productions.
