The Eighth Annual TOP COPS Awards® Ceremony
We have been busy planning the Eighth Annual TOP COPS
Awards® ceremony to be held at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC on
Thursday, October 25, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. Hotel lodging is at the Crowne Plaza in
Washington, DC. Call (800) 637-3788 by October 5 to receive your guaranteed TOP
COPS® room rate of $199. General admission tickets to the ceremony are $25 and
tickets to the post-reception are $75. If you have not already responded to your
TOP COPS® invitation and you plan to attend the ceremony, please mail or fax
your ticket request with payment to the NAPO Office as soon as possible.
We are also excited to announce that Fox's hit show America's Most Wanted has
agreed to air the Eighth Annual TOP COPS Awards® ceremony as one its Saturday
night episodes in late November, finally making our dream to televise TOP COPS®
a reality. The ceremony will feature AMW's signature reenactments of the TOP
COPS® cases, as well as a special tribute to the fallen and missing officers of
September 11.
The host of America's Most Wanted, John Walsh, will serve as Master of Ceremony
of this year's TOP COPS Awards®. Barring any schedule changes, celebrity
presenters include: Richard Belzer and Dann Florek of NBC's Law & Order:
Special Victims Unit; Michael Beach, Coby Bell, Bobby Cannavale, Amy Carlson,
Eddie Cibrian, Kim Raver, Anthony Ruivivar, Skipp Sudduth and Jason
Wiles of NBC's Third Watch; Yaphet Kotto of NBC's Homicide: Life on the
Street and Lynne Russell, former anchor of CNN's Headline News. We also expect
several members of Congress, and we hope that the Administration will
participate in this tribute to America's Finest.
NAPO has made a financial commitment of $300,000 to produce the Eighth Annual
TOP COPS Awards®. To date, we have raised $250,000 through sponsorships and
ticket sales. As we continue our efforts, we ask for your assistance in finding
additional corporate sponsors and encouraging your members to attend the
ceremony. We also urge you to consider becoming a law enforcement sponsor.
Please contact Kim Soucy or Jill Cameron with any questions or sponsorship
leads.
