Kate's Story
June 21, 2003

I had made a spontaneous decision to fly across the continent (I live in
British Columbia, Canada) to attend a performance of SAFE. After hearing that Jason had been greeting his fans each night, I was eagerly
anticipating my trip with high expectations. Every single one of those
expectations was met and exceeded.

Seated in the first row of the theatre, the sheer intensity that Jason
conveyed sent an almost electrical shock through my body. I could have literally reached out and touched him, had I not been completely
enraptured.

I was nervous about meeting him, but after having met Anthony and Coby before Jason, I had already entered the realm of beyond surreal, so standing beside Jason didn't seem like such a big deal. I handed him my playbill and he asked my name, and then signed a personalized autograph. Being near 6 feet, I was a good couple inches taller than him, so he stood on his toes for the photograph.

While waiting for the photo to be taken, he asked me where I was from. I told him and then he joked a bit about being so short, almost apologizing for it. I laughed it off and just said he wasn't short, I was tall.

Jason mingled with the other fans for a while before departing for the
night. My last memory of him is of watching him walk down an empty
darkened street, passing by NYPD squad cars. Almost like Bosco might do after a long shift.

Meeting Jason was a dream come true for me. His dedication to his fans is phenomenal and I wish I had the opportunity to thank him for making my trip just that much more special.
